Clean Rooms
I was sitting with a mom at soccer Saturday who was telling everyone how she just keeps the doors shut on her older kids' bedrooms. Before I had teenagers I thought mom's like her were just nuts. It's my house, keep it neat. However, after my foray upstairs to make beds today I have decided I just may have to join her ranks. We have a story-and-a half so I'm not upstairs very often. When I went upstairs last night to kiss my youngest goodnight the other two had their doors shut. In my haste to get to Desperate Housewives I wisely hurried past their rooms. This morning I picked up the dirty dishes, made their beds, and got out of there before I ended up spending the morning picking up. Any suggestions?

I hate to admit it but once mine became teens I more or less did the same thing...particularly as it got closer to time for them to go away to school...I didn't want to spend precious time fussing with them. The only thing, though, was that they absolutely had to be responsible for washing their own clothes. I held fast to that rule and only on rare occasions did their laundrey.
