We are hosting my sons swim team dinner tomorrow night so I have spent the evening cooking for 30 boys. I've made bbq brisket, pasta con broccoli, and will make sub sandwiches tomorrow. I cleaned house earlier this week but went downstairs to tidy things up since I think they will probably be down there with the game systems and big tv. My daughter came home from school, went down there and it is now a mess. Maybe not a mess but her laptop, afghan, soda cans, popcorn bowl. She was only down there a half hour.
I am so glad my son is involved in swimming. He is extremely bright and I never understood the importance of sports when he was young -- he is not a great athlete. He was on bench for soccer, baseball, and basketball. But he is a good swimmer and finally got back into it in high school. Since he had not swum in several years he is not one of the best on his team but he competes against himself every week and has a great time with the other guys. He has shaved a few seconds off his times and is proud of himself as are we. He also is a good tennis player so he will have two activities he can do well as an adult. He golfs too so he should be able to hold his own on the golf course. It's nice when we go on vacation that our kids enjoy these activities. For years they were happy to just dig in the sand at the beach but as they get older they want to be on their own and busy. I can't complain since most resorts offering tennis and golf have a spa for Mom.
